Friends Alliance Membership: Find your Friends Here

There’s something reassuring about knowing that somewhere across the country, someone has probably dealt with the exact challenge sitting on your desk.

Maybe they’re figuring out how to navigate a complicated partnership agreement. Maybe they’ve found a creative way to engage new volunteers, recruit board members, or work through a leadership transition. Or maybe they’ve already created a fall gala plan that they’d be happy to share with you. That’s one of the best things about being part of the National Park Friends Alliance.

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

Friends Groups and other philanthropic park partners do extraordinary work. They raise critical funds, engage communities, support park programs, and help the National Park Service care for some of our country’s most treasured places. The work requires a unique combination of nonprofit leadership, fundraising expertise, government relations, financial management, and patience.

Fortunately, there’s a whole community of people doing this work who have a lot to share. At the National Park Friends Alliance, our goal is to make membership something you turn to regularly. Whenever you need an idea, a resource, a sounding board, or someone who understands the unique relationship between a friends group and the National Park Service, the Friends Alliance is here for you.

Why Join the Friends Alliance?

Whatever your role, there’s someone in this community who understands your work, and probably has a few good ideas to share. And because we take our queues from our community of members, we are always innovating and launching new programs and resources to help you keep up-to-date with the latest trends in nonprofit management and react to new updates from the National Park Service.

Friends Alliance membership offers something for everyone on your team.

·       Board members can connect with peers from other Friends Groups, learn about nonprofit governance, and bring fresh ideas back to their organizations.

·       Executive directors gain a trusted network of colleagues who understand the challenges of leading a nonprofit in partnership with the National Park Service, along with opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and problem-solving.

·       Staff members can tap into specialized knowledge, practical resources, and peer networks focused on everything from fundraising and communications to programs and operations.

Ask current members what they value about the Friends Alliance, and you’ll hear a lot about the people, the practical support, and peer learning that addresses the challenges park partners encounter every day.
