Celebrating National Park Week Through Partnership
National Park Week is August 22–30, and across the country, parks and their philanthropic partners are inviting people to celebrate, explore, learn, and connect.
The 2026 National Park Week theme is “Celebrate America’s Story,” recognizing the many stories preserved and shared through our national parks. This is the first year that National Park Week has been celebrated in August, and the week also includes the National Park Service’s 110th birthday on August 25 and National Junior Ranger Day on August 30.
The National Park Service (NPS) offers ideas for getting involved, special events, and a theme for each day of the celebration. Partners can also find resources through the National Park Week Toolkit. NPS will also waive admission fees to parks on Tuesday, August 25th.
The National Park Foundation is also celebrating National Park Week by encouraging people to connect with the parks they love and learn more about the many ways we can help preserve these places for the future.
Friends Alliance members are bringing that spirit to life in their own communities.
At Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, the Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy is turning National Park Week into a community-wide celebration. Visitors can explore the park, volunteer, support the Conservancy, thank a ranger, and connect with local businesses participating in the celebration.
Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy offers ideas for experiencing and giving back, from exploring special places to volunteering and learning more about the people who care for them. They have leaned into the theme of storytelling for this year’s celebration.
And Washington’s National Park Fund has collaborated with the Seattle Mariners to offer a special National Park-themed day at the ballpark, which is bringing in funds for the organization and raising awareness for Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic national parks.
